It’s been awhile since I’ve been on here, but I have reason to believe the wedding dress store, Mary Linn’s, did something really shady with my dress and I needed some different perspectives on the matter…
To start, here is my wedding dress:
I spent over a year paying it off and scrimped and saved just to be able to afford this thing. The dress is Laertes by Elie Saab for Pronovias, and I believe that the wedding dress store, Mary Linn’s, hacked off 2 pieces of applique from my wedding dress in order to get out of giving me a $750 refund on some cap sleeves I ordered.
Mary Linn’s claimed the reason they had to charge me $750 for cap sleeves was because they had to special order the fabric from the designer in order to make the cap sleeves. One of the main reasons I asked for the refund in the first place was because at 5 of the 6 dress fittings I went to, I never even saw the “special designer fabric”, and the seamstress at Mary Linn’s kept making it seem like all she planned on using in order to make the sleeves was the fabric cut from the bottom of my dress (I have my maid-of-honor, now husband, and now sister-in-law who came with me on different days who were witnesses to this).
I asked for a refund at my 5th (which was supposed to be final) dress fitting. I had to schedule another dress fitting (I went to the dress store THREE times the week before my wedding because they kept telling me the dress would be done but they kept leaving it unfinished), and so it wasn’t until my 6th and FINAL dress fitting that they even showed me the material they “claimed” was from the designer, which they were supposed to have used to make the cap sleeves.
However, the lady at the front desk on June 19th told me that the material HAD been ordered and was supposed to arrive the next day (June 20th), which was the FINAL day I had to pick up my dress since I had a bridal shoot scheduled on that day (June 20th). In other words, she told me that the material was scheduled to arrive AFTER I had to go pick up the dress. I felt like this still justified the refund.
Then, on June 20th, when I went to go pick up my dress (which was STILL actually not quite done), the seamstress randomly came up to me holding two pieces of 6″ material which were IDENTICAL to the appique on my actual dress, and claimed that the “special ordered designer fabric” just happened to arrive early DESPITE the fact that on the previous day, the girl at the front desk had looked up the UPS tracking information while the package was in-transit and had told me that the package was scheduled to arrive the next day (June 20th) AFTER I was supposed to pick up my dress due to the fact that it was being held up in customs since it had been shipped from Spain.
Anyways, here is the material the seamstress came out with, which she claimed was special ordered and sent by the designer from Spain. I took this picture at Mary Linn’s (that’s their front desk counter I’m shooting on) after asking permission from the manager to capture this image. The pieces are each about 6″ in length, and I was charged $750 by Mary Linn’s in order to have them make the cap sleeves because the cost of materials was expensive…
