Hahahaha! That’s funny! Good for you! Maybe in the near future, he’ll buy you a beautiful rock to put on your finger!!! Congrats on the house and the engagement!

I’ve got a friend who’s Fiance bought her a new horse rather than an engagement ring.

She’s estatic, it was her request.  As she says, she will get a nice ring when they get married.

People are too hidebound when it comes to all this.

I didn’t ever really care about an engagement ring, and in previous conversations my boo and I decided against one. When it came down to it, though, he got me some pretty bling and I really do love it.

Every time someone reaches for my hand instintively, I get weirded out about how ingrained it is for engagement to = jewelry!! I also react like “why is this person trying to hold my hand?!” before I realize what’s happening.

@PMSJL:  ARG! So jealous! I would have taken a house over an Engagement Ring any day ๐Ÿ™ Congrats on both, by the way ๐Ÿ˜‰

My Fiancee had recently bought a house before we met, so we’ve been paying the Mortgage instead of buying a ring that costs 2+ months payments. I got so annoyed with people immediately looking at my hand or asking about a ring I stopped announcing it. now, 2 month before the wedding, friends I hadnt seen in awhile are surprised about the nearing nupitals. I guess they didnt see my update on Facebook?

To avoid the awkward hand holding/ringfinger searching/awkward looks I was thinking about printing out a wallet size photo of the house and showing that to people who started asking about a ring.

Congrats on the engagement and the new home! ๐Ÿ˜€

its funny how engagement = look @ left hand.

way to go for sticking to your belief in not having a ring if that is what you want.

I must be lucky because no one has asked to see it the first day I showed up at my old job after I got engaged.  And I put a picture up on facebook for my friends and family back home so I suspect that they will not bug me about it either.  I would be so pissed if I had to deal with people searching for a ring and grabbing my left hand all the time!

That’s awesome that he got a house who cares about a damn ring at that point!

@BlondeBee:  I want an engagement horse too!  Altough I had horses when I was little and they can be a lot of work.
