- Wedding: August 2015
Disclaimer that I know this isn’t actually a big deal at all, I’m just irrationally upset.
First we couldn’t do our dating anniversary (July 4th) because of a family member’s conflict. We finally settled on 8/15/15 and e-mailed our venue to reserve. We figured there was no way someone would have it reserved two years out. Fiance posted this really sweet modified version of a verse from A Midsummer Night’s Dream on Facebook announcing our date and when our friends found out our reasoning (Perseid meteor shower, right after a new moon for good viewing) they thought is was adorable and nerdy and perfect. The Shakespeare even fit with our waxing crecent moon! Well, of course I get an e-mail from the venue today that someone booked that date last week and literally any other date in August is open! Fiance was like “Seriously, who books their date that far in advance?!?!” to which I could only say, “Um, we do…”
It just sucks because I was really bummed about not being able to get married on our anniversary. We would have been together for 8 years, so the date has been very meaningful to us for a long time. I finally get excited about a new date, and then that’s taken. I know that no matter what the day will be special because I’m marrying the man I love, but I’m still annoyed. I’m also irrationally annoyed at Fiance because I knew we wanted this date for a few weeks but he’s the type of person who, even when he knows what he’s gonig to decide, he’s not ready to “pull the trigger.” So, if we had booked when we initially agreed, we would have the date we want. Now we have to tell our family and close friends about the change, which isn’t even a big deal since it’s two years away, but I feel like it takes away from some of the initial excitement of “Yay, you have a date!!!”
Our new date is 8/8/15, which is still close to the meteor shower, and it’s cute because it’s two eights and then with 2015 2+0+1+5=8. So, time to get excited about a date atgain, I guess.
Ok, end of first world entitled brat problems for the day.
