OK, let me preface this post by saying this is not a complaint, I am genuinely confused.
OK, so I finally registered at the insistence of my mom, who said all my out of town family was bugging her and wanted to send gifts. I didn’t put very much on it, and everything was under $50 (most of which was under $20) because I’m pretty touchy about looking like a gimme pig. There were maybe 15-20 items on there.
So, I looked at my registry today, and I see 9 items have been bought. I was like, score! Well I check it out, and all nine items are things I did not register for. Most of the stuff seems pretty cute/useful and I’m grateful that people bought anything. However…why is it now on my registry? If people wanted to buy things that aren’t on there, wouldn’t they just buy them? How does it get linked to my existing registry?
And second, someone bought a box of snack crackers. Now I remember reading on here awhile ago that when people are buying off your registry, non registry items that they bought the same time might get added. But will it look like to other people that I registered for a box of snack crackers?
Edited to Add: Yes, this is a Target Baby Registry

Is it from Target? Our wedding registry was from Target and we had lots of things added that we didn’t choose!

Wow, that’s…interesting.I want to go look at mine now.LOL

It’s not a solution, but you can delete the extra items from the registry website. We had some stuff added, like wrapping paper and gift bags, when people purchased things for our wedding shower.

@Linz1231: We also had the same problem with our Target Registry!
Though, I have never heard of one showing a box of crackers before. = ) Can you delete the extra items?

If the items are baby related and purchased I would leave them on the registry. When registries get scanned there the cashier has the option to add gifts to the registry to get a gift receipt. Just in case you don’t get the gift receipt with the items and want to return them you can use the registry to do so. It’s a funky system…

LOL! Sorry just had to laugh at looking like you registered for a box of snack crackers.

I would just leave them. That way if someone purchased them for you and they’ve been added to your registry, they’ll be easier to return if you need to. Especially at Target, they don’t make it easy to return things.

I attended a baby shower recently where the bulk of her registry was with Target and she ended up with no only multiples of a lot of things but one specific item she got 7 of. I don’t trust Target to actually be able to show items as have been purchased.
