orangeblossomspecial : I am disappointed in your response to Sunfire. Agree with her or not I had really thought you would at least give her request the time of day and reply in some kind of polite manner based on your past presence on these threads. I’m just surprised I don’t mean this as an attack.

amb1030 : I apologize (the page has moved, so I can’t tag Sunfire). I did not mean for my tone to come across as superior or dismissive. I think I see that we fundamentally disagree, and I don’t wish to debate the issue. I could have phrased it better.

orangeblossomspecial : Thank you for your apology. I admit to knowing little about Yiannopoulos. My point was the article written by Katie Hopkins sheds an interesting light on how the higher education system in both the UK and US have become so completely one-sided and far left. It’s not healthy to allow our students to be so completely brainwashed by an entirely liberal agenda.
I wouldn’t want everything to be entirely conservative either. I’m not a conservative myself. I am in favor of balance. That way people can be properly educated in various viewpoints and learn to think for themselves and make up their own minds. Only providing a narrow viewpoint in our universities is doing a disservice to the students. It is depriving them of the whole picture.

Sunfire : The daily mail is an extremely right wing website, you don’t get balanced news from it. Also, have you seen the tweet that man was banned for? It was absolutely appalling. He compared a successful, intelligent woman to an ape. If you see no problem with it, then that says a lot about you. (As does your support of Marine Le Pen, to be honest).

Sunfire : I do agree that a fair, balanced, and objective perspective is always in everyone’s best interest.

cece_intheuk : I’m not in support of either Yiannopoulos or Le Pen in entirety, or Trump, but I do believe the alt-left has the attitude that things should be their way or the highway. They don’t have exclusivity on being “right” or “correct.” Opinion is opinion is opinion.
And the Daily Mail certainly is one of the most balanced publications out there, they show as much hate towards the right as they do the left. They’re nutty that way which is why I like them, although by far not my only news source, just a mere drop in the bucket. I also read The Daily Beast if that makes you feel any better.
I’m sure if I’d posted a link from The New York Times you’d have forgone that particular criticism, though, right?

Glenda_the_good_witch : enlighten me, why is my answer cookie cutter? All you have done is insult me. Like I have said repeatedly, I enjoy creative discourse with those who have opposing views. I have outlined my views in an effort to have polite discourse. I am open to your hearing your views, but you need to present a view rather than an insult.
