You get ideas and discounts from local vendors and there are coupons for various services like hair and make up. You can soemtimes try some cake or get a make up trial. Its basically vendors trying to sell their services to brides. If you need the servies it doesnt hurt to go. I wont 4 free tuxedo rentals when I went to one right after I got engaged.

My daughter almost ran out of one kicking and screaming. The worst part is, she had to fill out an information card, to get in. In hindsight she would have given her old e-mail adress and phone number, because she was flooded with sales pitches, for over a year.

Sometimes you get special deals or freebie for attending and chances to win door prizes. My Maid/Matron of Honor and I had our names called a couple of times for  prizes; that was neat. I also really enjoyed the gourmet cake and wine tastings at our local bridal show. Fiance and I would never be able to afford this particular bakery that gave out the cake samples in our budget, but it was certainly fun to get freebies.   MOH and I had a blast just walking around and getting attention from vendors who wanted our  business.

Do not use your regular email address, if you have to register or fill out any forms. I would make a separate email just for wedding spam– you would not believe how many vendors are contacting me now, just from this itty bitty event alone.

You may also want to find a good spot (if there is seating) to park your bags temporarily. Some of these places give you so many freebies that your arms will get tired from the weight! ha

rachkh:  I love them! It really depends on if its a national bridal show or a local show. I have gone to both. The local shows have more of the vendors in the surrounding area and  the big name brands. I like the locals because you come across some hidden treausres  The nationals may have some local vendors but mainly your big name brand resturants, hotels, dress shops like Davids Bridal, Alfred Angelo.  They usally have samples of wine, cakes ect.  and tons of photobooths.

It’s really geared towards brides so if your fiance is going..he going to be BORED.

I have gone with mine once and he said he would never go to another one LOL so the rest I have gone with a groups of girls each time to have a fun day out.

Mainly you will be filling out your name and email for the vendors that you want more information on. Its a big audition for the vendors to sell themselves to brides. You can get some really good disconts and offers there.  Some have a fashion show for the latest gowns at Davids or Alfred and a credit vochers for gowns as well.

Hope this was helpful enough.

Honestly, I was terrified by the room busting with people and vendors. BUT I did find my wonderful photographer there and because I attended the event, I received a free 16×20 print from her. I would never have found her if I hadn’t attended. She’s has a small business that is often outshined by the big name photographers in our city. I was able to see samples of her work and she was a great price. I did, however, refuse to go to another bridal show as soon as my key vendors were signed! Very claustrophic!

I’m not a fan of them at all personally, but it’s a good way to feel out some vendors and see if you mesh with them, see their work/equipment, etc. We booked our DJ and the photobooth at a bridal show.

I went with a friend of mine for her wedding and it was great for all the free food and cake samples.  I guess if you’re planning on using a lot of vendors it’d be helpful, but I did a lot of DIY, so it wouldn’t have been much use to me.  Free cake is still awesome though lol.

I went to one and it was really uncomfortable – tacky and cliche wedding junk everywhere.  The only part I liked was the catering samples.  We got out of there very quickly.  Like pp, I recommend not filling in any forms truthfully due to ongoing soliciations.

free cake! also got a killer deal on our cake- they had a flyer if you bring it in during your cake tasting and have them bake your cake they took off 10 or 20 percent of the cake– 10 if you didnt pay ahead of time- 20 if you paid infull at the consult/tasting… we also got a awesome deal with photographry from the vendor- there was also a salon giving free up dos. so all my bridesmaids and i got our hair done at the begining and felt fabulous!

We got a good deal on a limo there but otherwise, I would just go because it’s fun! A couple of my BMs went with me and I have attended as a Bridesmaid or Best Man a few times as well and we always have a great time trying samples and looking at different vendors.

rachkh:  PRIZES!!!

I’ve been to three and I’ve won these items:

-Honeymoon to St. kitts

-Bridal Gown

– A free stay in a suite at a Twelve hotel

-An origami owl locket with 3 charms

-A $25 gift card for Stella& Dot

-A studio wed box

They are fun, the prizes are awesome, and you can get some helpful information. Plus they have drinks, food, and a lot of freebies. I attend mainly for prizes, I’m not really interested in the vendors lol

My main goal was to win a dress because I didn’t want to spend ang money on that lol. I can’t believe I won one on the first try! I’m cheap!
