@Waitingbee57:  STD isn’t used any more in the other context. We now use STI- Sexually Transmitted Illness- as they are not all diseases.

@julies1949:  Even if STI is the official term, STD is still used colloquially. I’ve almost never heard STI used outside of a doctor’s office or other more proper setting.

It still throws me off sometimes when I see titles with STD in the name haha. Especially when it’s something like ‘STD problems :(‘. I get all worried for the poster for half a second then realize that’s not what they mean haha.

@Waitingbee57:  Haha STD still has that meaning in my head too

@julies1949:  I thought STI was sexually transmitted infection? But I guess “infection” only infers a bacteria and not a virus? I don’t know I’m not in the medical field…lol

@ValerieBee03:  You’re correct. I referred to the wrong word. It is infection. STI’s are infections, not all STI’s are diseases.

I think about 99% of adults would use the term STD (not STI)  to describe some sort of sexually transmitted infection, disease or issue.

Hahaha, that’s awesome!

I have always wanted to do a thread that’s like: ask your FI to define ________ (insert random wedding term here) or to name _________ (show a picture of like a Juliet cap veil or something). This is inspired by my FI not knowing that women (usually) get two rings!! But I can just imagine how funny it would be to ask him to define uplighting or bustle!

@Zaraj_Will:  Haha okay, if I think of it, I’ll make it tomorrow when more people are around! If I forget, you should make it!

@julies1949:  In Australia, we use STD. The only time I every hear STI is on American TV shows.

@howsweetitis:  Lol! THat would be funny, especially on those “Fill in the Blanks” cards a lot of people seem to be doing for cocktaill hour these days.
