@Miss Leopard, @gramgeek, @babypearls:  I’d imagine that as a professional photog herself, the OP wouldn’t want to post examples of other photographers’ work in the context of this post – definitely bad form to bash someone else’s work!

I see so many pictures nowadays with no pure blacks or whites, just greys. Even black-and-white pictures are just varying shades of mid-greys. Not even really light grey or really dark grey. Just blah faded and discolored looking.

I think some vintage-look styles can be pretty but they have to be done well. Unfortunately, there are more people out there not doing things well than there are doing things well. So. You know.

I think OP makes some decent points but I’m pretty sure people are aware that when they choose a photographer who uses this style the colors they’ve picked out will come off as a little different. As far as tying to choose something “timeless” – that’s stupid, no such thing as “timeless.” I think part of the fun of photos is the fact that you can pin-point to when they were taken. FI’s parents were married in the 80s and their photos definitely have an 80s vibe even without the hair/clothes. They all have a warm and soft glow to them. You kind of have to give people credit for knowing what they want, I know my photogs photos have a tendency to make colors extremely vibrant and also a little vintagey which is what I love about it. I’m having an outdoor fall wedding and that’s at least 75% of the reason I chose her. I was recently at a wedding where the photos were just blah, the photographer touched up people’s imperfections but I totally could have done it myself. If you choose a reputable photographer the photos will turn out well no matter what, even when printing them.

@MexiPino:  I LOVE that my parents wedding pictures are so stylish and represent the times. They look so awesome!

My photos will also eventually look dated…..it’s inevitable and ok.
