It’s been a little while since my partner announced he was looking at rings, and I’ve been waiting (im)patiently thinking to myself “what the heck is taking him so long???”.
Turns out, the man is now a walking encyclopedia about all things diamonds!!! I pointed a ring out in a jewellery catalogue last night and he looked at it for a minute and then I just about fainted in shock when he told me that for the price he would have to sacrifice the some of the 4 C’s!!!!!!
I must have looked completely shocked and then he blurted out that he’s been really researching best value for money and he went onto to tell me about VSI and clarity of diamonds and how some shops add extra onto the cost for labour and that he’s been talking to smaller jewellers etc. He told me it’s the most important thing he’s ever going to buy for me and he wants to get the best so he is putting so much effort into it! He wanted to tell me all the research he’d done after he’s proposed but he could see how much it was getting to me, so he wanted me to know he hadn’t forgotten.
I felt so guilty for thinking that he’d just been sitting on his ass for the past few months doing nothing about it that I burst into tears! I told him to take as long as he wanted!
Oh and he also said that looking at diamonds is the most confusing and stressful thing he’s ever done. And then he asked me if I knew how many cuts of diamonds there are and did I know the difference between princess and brilliant cut! I also know he’s been looking at 1 carat solitaires set in yellow gold (perfect!).
I am alot happier now knowing that it’s on it’s way and also knowing that he put so much effort into finding something that he is going to be happy with as well. The waiting just got that much easier! Yaaaaaaaaaay!
Edit – I thought this would be good for us waiting ladies to know – while the waiting can be sooooo stressful, I can only imagine how much more stressed our partners are trying to pick out the perfect ring.
