@sapphirecupcake:  I joined almost a year ago, I think – time flies!

I was looking for ring photos and it linked to a post here. I then lurked for a bit and decided to join, I guess.

When I was engaged, I was searching for information regarding something wedding-etiquette related, and Weddingbee popped up in a Google search.

About two years after  my wedding, after I had gone through some extremely  difficult transition (experiencing some post-wedding depression, becoming a pastor’s wife and stepmother to multiple children, having to switch churches and denominations, having to commute to and from DH’s area three hours away each week for almost the entire first year of our marriage so I could keep my job in my city until I could sell my house, selling two houses and buying a new one with DH and moving, learning to adjust to a very small town in a rural area after having lived near a major city, etc. etc.), I encountered WB a third time.

By that point, I was no longer working, and I thought that sharing with other brides some of what I had experienced and learned may not only prove to be a bit cathartic for me but also helpful to others.

I stayed because I absolutely love the community and interacting with so many intelligent, articulate, educated, informed, wonderful women of diverse ages, backgrounds, cultures, nations, and beliefs. I’m sure it may surprise some bees to learn that some of my very favorite bees are those whose beliefs could not be more different than mine. I have learned so much about many things from members of the Hive!

Also, being a member of Weddingbee gives me an opportunity to think and write about a number of topics, which, in great part, is what I used to do for a living.

Finally, I believe that Weddingbee provides me with an outlet to help encourage and comfort others. There was one morning many months after I had joined WB, when I began to worry that I was wasting too much time being a participant here. I specifically prayed about this and asked the Lord directly about it.  Within an hour at most, I logged in and saw that a bee had created a post saying that she was very upset and needed to talk to someone about something but did not want to post details in a public thread. She asked if someone would PM her. I sent her a PM telling her that I was willing to listen.

I was amazed to discover that the very things that were upsetting her so much were things that I had just been through in my own life. I was able to share with her and encourage her.  I was astonished to see God’s hand at work in this situation to the point that, within hours, this young lady — who did not even go to church or see the point at all in praying — told me that I wasn’t going to believe it but she knew God was listening to her and answering her through some very specific circumstances and interactions with me and several other people. We corresponded regularly for several days and less frequently for awhile thereafter. I can honestly say that being in a position to help her was one of the most spiritually rewarding experiences of my life.

I love Weddingbee! <3

I was googling ‘waiting for engagement’ (we’d been together 3.5 years at this point) and it’s a wrap.

I joined when my SO and I started talking rings….and I knew I wanted a green stone and not a diamond.  I searched and a few links brought me here….so, I joined!

I found Weddingbee through a Google search as well. I don’t remember why, but I’m so glad that I did!

I think I was searching for silk flower arrangements or something. If you had told me then how much the bee would evolve my wedding plans I would never have believed it. I took a break from the bee after my wedding but somehow ended up lurking back to share my knowledge. Over the past 5 months the TTC board has sucked me in permanently. I love the ladies on there!

Ha, I found it through Google too!  I was almost a year into planning the wedding and realized I had no clue what I was doing.  I googled a lot of questions I had, and almost all of my searches had the weddingbee site at the very top!  So glad I found it!  I plan to stay past the wedding too because I hope to help future brides, and maybe get advice on next-step stuff like houses and babies ๐Ÿ™‚  Love weddingbee!

My daughters’ weddings look like being in the not too distant future so I decided to join a wedding forum. I was going to join “that other wedding site which we don’t name”, but it has a separate Australian site, whose forums are very quiet (like, 1 post per day). So I came here instead!

There was a dress I wanted to buy on Classifieds, and you have to have an account to contact anyone. ๐Ÿ™‚

I cannot remember how I first came accross weddingbee, but lets just say I was a lot more productive in my spare time before…

I’ve been lurking for about a year (when we first started to talk seriously about marriage and set an approximate date) and finally got an account the other day. By the time we get engaged I am going to be SO EXCITED to have something to contribute to the boards!

I had heard about it on either TK or WW and decided to check it out. I was a member on both of the other boards at the time, but saw this and loved how much more active it was than the others! Now I post exclusively to this site for the most part ๐Ÿ™‚ I’ve found tons of helpful info here!

None of my close friends are married/have planned a wedding so I wanted somewhere to talk about wedding stuff. I tried The Knot but the site wouldn’t let me start or respond to threads for some reason, and it was annoying me.

The topic ‘Why weddingbee?’ is closed to new replies.
