FH went to bed, then called me upstairs to tell me that he thinks he heard a noise where I have my clothes piled (we ordered a dresser that has been EXTREMELY delayed), and he thinks this means we have a rodent. We sat there for a minute, then went through the stuff (not super thoroughly but fairly well) and nothing. He says he thought he heard something earlier and he still thinks we might have a critter in our bedroom. He is now sleeping, so I can’t do a thorough check. How am I supposed to sleep tonight?

oh no!! i’m so sorry! that is the worst feeling. i guess try to take comfort in the fact that, if there is something in there, it’s probably way more scared of you than you are of it. make FH protect you!!!!

dryer sheets work to repel rodents, that might help you sleep in the future!

Do you have a dog or cat? I have a dog and when we opened up our ceiling to do renovations, we discovered a little mouse in the house! My dog could just “sense” where the mouse was, and kept barking (at what we thought was nothing) so we were able to capture it. Our dog just sat in the closet and kept barking and sniffing (and otherwise never does this). Little dog saved the day!!! If you don’t have a dog or cat, borrow a friend’s 🙂

Rodents aren’t scary if you actually think about them, as they rarely bite, and are actually very clean animals in general (if you’ve ever had a pet mouse or rat, you’ll know how frequently they clean themselves…ALL.THE.TIME.). Don’t worry, it’ll probably be way too scared to come anywhere near you! If you do happen upon it, just find something to scoop it up and let it out the door. No need to freak out! Just remember that it is highly unlikely that it will hurt you.
