I have been searching for a wedding band and I was told by a jeweller that I need to go with an 18kt gold band. He said that anything less that that will scratch my engagement ring. Has anybody heard of this before?
I am finding it hard to find an 18kt wedding band that I love and they are too over budget to custom design.
Also, has anyone got some recommendations for online wedding bands that ship or are based in Australia? So many sites but I am very hesitant to buy one online.

kaleidoscope: The lower karat gold will scratch the higher karat gold because 18k is softer than 14k, so over time, it will wear away at your engagement ring which is softer. I highly recommend getting the same materials for both rings, so definitely get 18k for your wedding band.

Blue Nile looks really good and does deliver to Australia.

Most Etsy sellers also deliver to Australia.

What’s your budget?

I have a 14k Ering and 18k wband, I’ve been told the same thing but I don’t think it will that big of deal in the long run.
Depending on what band your more worried about protecting you could get a 18k spacing band between the Ering and Wband to protect the Ering

Baybeejulia: I thought I might have to do that. Thanks for the recomendations, will check them out 🙂 I really dont want to spend over $600 on a ring. I cant justify spending that much on myself, but I would have spent double that on FI’s ring lol
NEAM2014: That is a really good idea, I will look into something like that as well, thanks!

kaleidoscope: I live in Sydney and walked into a local jeweler yesterday who had most gold and white gold 18k bands under $350. Depending on what you would like. If you want a diamond band it will cost more, but for a plain gold band at a small town jeweler you can definitely find something for $200-$400.
