crissynicole:  also more fitted dresses will be a bigger bridal size than street size. Your dress is looser on the bottom so its not surprising that your dress size is the same as your street size.

I’m a street size 12 and had to get an 18 due to my chest (And will alter it down.) the dress has to fit your largest measurement – so I would look up the measurements of the 16W and see if you can shrink and if you normally lose weight there.

I am extremely busty, so I know going in I have to get at least 2-3 sizes bigger than what fits my waist. Yay always altering 😉

I had to get another dress because the old one (with a corset back) did not fit after I gained weight. It was an 18w and I needed a 22w. Did not fit. Now, my body is different than yours and it might work, but I wouldn’t advise you do that. Can you just order it online?

A 16W is a size 16 that’s just wider, so it fits like a size 18. If you can try on a size 16 dress that’s similar in design with a corset back you’ll be able to get a better idea of how the fit will be.

If you’re serious about losing weight and you have 15 months I bet you can totally swing it. It’s only 2 sizes, and you could always get another dress 6 months out if need be. It’s a risk, you just need to to decide if you’re okay with losing that 400$ should it not work out.

The corset will only give you about one size. I work in a bridal shop and have experience with this. A zipper is one standard size where a corset is normally two. So that dress is really 16W/18W. So unfortunately it will still be one size too small and most dresses don’t have room to let out. You also don’t want the back to look too tight or scrunched because the laces in the corset will look stretched out.

I only skimmed the comments, so I’m sorry if this is repetitive, but talk to a seamstress first. Just adding fabric in the back probably won’t make it fit. You might need the seams let out, and some dresses don’t have much seam allowance, and with such an intricate top, you might not want to do that anyway.

Yes, my sister went up 3 dresses but adding a corset back.. under the straps she added farbic so it looked amazing!! With the right seamstress it is absolutely do-able! Good luck Bee!
