any dress you wear in 90 degree heat is going to be warm, so i don’t think it makes a difference on what the cut is really. i think if you love a dress, you should buy it! there are always ways to cool down on that day. maybe you could even get a shorter/cocktail dress for the reception?

ps. i love your dress – it looks really great on you!

Thats a gorgeous dress! Any dress is going to be warm in the summer. Unless you go with a short summer style?

@Droid:  I think you’re always going to be warm in a wedding dress if you live in a hot place.  I’m getting married in August in Scotland so the weather will be anyone’s guess but I am just accepting that I might be really roasting on the day but I love my dress too much to compromise 🙂

@Droid: After trying on several dresses the one that I ultimately chose was by Modern Trousseau. One of the reasons I loved the dress was that it was so incredibly light and airy. It’s made out of an Italian Thai silk, and I swear it couldn’t have weighed much more than the hanger. I’m getting married in August in Philadelphia and it will be HOT, so a light airy dress is just what I needed. You should check out some of their dresses if you haven’t found yours yet.

If you add a pettycoat to your dress it will make you hotter, but in reality most dresses call for a pettycoat or some sort of crinoline, so either way it will be warm :/

I really like your dress! pretty!!

I can totally empathize!!! I’m in the same boat, literally. I am getting married in MI, with an outdoor reception in the middle of July. You and I both know there is no reason to plan anything around our crazy MI weather!!! It could snow for all we know! lol. Anyway, my point is if you love the dress go for it! It’s going to be hot reguardless of the type of dress you wear. Happy planning! P.S. The dress is beautiful on you. 🙂
