solnishko1186 :  she sounds like the worst! I would probably make a complaint to the hospital administration – in my experience they will listen to you about those types of complaints because they don’t want to be known as the hospital that makes patients even MORE anxious than they likely already are. So does the hospital not do circumcisions either is that why she gave him crap? That’s bizarre. My husband is Jewish so if we have a boy it’s important to him (and I battle I’ve chosen not to have even though I disagree with it) but I DID put up a stink that it’s happening in a hospital – the alternative is some rabbi at your house!

solnishko1186 :  This woman sounds psycho.  I bet she’s never worked full time while breast-feeding twins.

LilliV :  yeah- and if you do a bris (rabbi at home), it isn’t covered by insurance!

Mrs. Meowerson :  I didn’t even THINK of that part! I just remember my Mother-In-Law showing me the photos from DH’s bris and she looks DEAD. She had to have a big family party at her house a week after having an emergency c-section? Screw that. Plus she said “oh the mohel was so old and shaky that I was really nervous – thankfully it was all ok!” Uh….what?! You let a shaky octogenarian near your brand new son’s penis with a sharp knife?! Not cool…

solnishko1186 :  When I delivered my second I was talking to my nurse about how pushy they were about BFing when I had my first and she said it’s bascailly like earring commission when they get moms to Boyfriend or Best Friend.  She said they had meetings on how to convince moms to Boyfriend or Best Friend, they kept “score” on who was getting more moms to Boyfriend or Best Friend, and even who had a better track record on moms who continued to Boyfriend or Best Friend. It was not at all about benefits to mom and baby, and much more about how the hospital scored on their BFing rates.  So take that into consideration when they are pushing it on you.

And I’m not anti BFing by any means, I tried with both of mine, ended up pumping and used formula so I’ve done it all – just thought this was worth mentioning.
