If you’re going to try taking the pill continuously without the sugar pills and you’ve never done it before, I would suggest doing it a few months in advance of the wedding.  I tried it a few times in the past and it never worked.  I would get spotting and bleeding the week when my period was supposed to be.  Once it continued for soo long it was like I had my period for 3 weeks.  My advice would be to do it a few months in advance to try to “reshedule” your period during the month of the wedding/honeymoon.

I have completely unpredictable cycles (seriously…ranging from 2-10 weeks) and have no way of knowing when my period will arrive. It just shows up, invariably at the worst time. With cramps. And bloating. And moodiness.

I’m not a candidate for anything hormonal because I have migraines that get much more severe on the pill (even low dose) or NuvaRing.

The Diva Cup sounds worth trying (thanks VeganGlam). Otherwise, well…I’m just resigned to the fact that I’ll most likely wind up with my period exactly when I don’t want it. It’s some small comfort knowing that others are in the same boat.

Fingers crossed that the stress and excitement of the wedding will throw our cycles off, just a little bit, in the right direction.

Make sure your fiance knows you will be expecting your period so there are no surprises. If he’s a good man he will be understanding! I was on schedule to have my period on my wedding day… but miraculously I had an off month and got on a new schedule.

I think what she’s talking about has been some recent issues and a potential recall with Yaz. It’s not ALL over the news yet, but there has been talk about it, so I’m sure that’s what she’s referring to.

Anyway, are you against all BCP? Cause you could take BCP and skip the placebo pills? I’m on Junel and so far it works fine for me.

i reccomend talking to you gyn.. if you currently take bc you can usually just skip your period pills and it will typically lighten your period(sometimes it stops it all the way) but do it as soon as posible so that you can start bc incase that is the best option for you and your not currently on any

Just got back from my honeymoon yesterday. I had commented a few months back that my period was due during my honeymoon. I took the active birth control pills last week instead of the sugar pills and up until the last two days I had nothing. The last two days I had very light spotting. If I hadn’t done that I would have had 4-5 days of a regular period. So for me, it was fantastic! If you start a pill now, you will have time to hopefully do this. But don’t start on the pill just for this reason. Make sure you really want to take the pill and are informed of the side effects, etc. Good luck!
