The situation in NYC is really bad right now, but hopefully by Friday they will be okay getting out. I am sure they want to be with family right now, I know that is how I feel.

JFK and Newark airports are opening today. La Guardian is still under water.

I know friends have been able to get busses out to Boston and Philly, so maybe that would be an option for you too.

good luck!

It will be what it will be. There are some things in life you just cannot control, this is one of them.  Relax and whatever happens you’ll enjoy your day.  Those that can will find a way to be there.

I’ve been completely stressing out over this myself. My family is in NJ and that’s where my wedding is next Saturday. My parents have been without power all week, and the recent updates from the power company are that it may be until next Friday before power is restored. My venue hasn’t lost power, but my church has and so has the hotel where most of my guests are staying. Now that we’re dealing with gas rationing here, my limo company said “they can’t confirm anything for next weekend” because we don’t know what the fuel situation will be by then. Some of my bridesmaids haven’t been able to get in touch with the people altering their dresses because their businesses are still closed. We have guests flying in from overseas to stay with my parents on Tuesday and Wednesday, including two children under the age of four. They need heat! My office is in downtown Manhattan and I’ve been out of work all week. While normally, being off work the week before the wedding would be amazing (such productivity!) it has been impossible to get anything done when there is no power and no gas anywhere. Businesses have not been open and the roads have been a mess. Every day a new problem pops up. It’s a nightmare! I know that in the grand scheme of things, it will all work out and even if things don’t go perfectly it will still be a special day. The important thing is that my family is safe. Given the devastation everywhere in the area, I consider myself so lucky that my friends and family have made it through this ok. But I can’t help but be an emotional wreck, you know? So of course now I’m stress eating, and being stuck in the apartment all week has done nothing to help that situation. UGH. I feel terrible that I’m stressing out over my wedding when people have so much more to worry about right now.

These are major, major airports the bleed money every second they’re closed. I’m sure they will be back to normal by then!! I heard they are adding flights and even aircraft.
