ok, im the same size as you are, i tried on a mermaid style dress when i was looking at dresses, you def need to get a dress in the right size.  It was hard to sit in a size 10 let alone another size smaller.  i know that may be disapointing to hear, but you also want to be able to move comfortably on your wedding day.

I personally would have a hard time ordering a gown I could not try on. I would be afraid on it would not look as well or what I wanted exactly. I suggest going to a local bridal salon and maybe trying on a gown that is similar to what you want to order just to make sure it is comfortable, and the style you really want.

I would also like to know other mermaid dress owners experiences. I have a Marisa 737 am getting it taken in even more at the butt for a more dramatic mermaid effect, but I am a little worried about sitting, too. The seamstress said it would be fine, although a bit more difficult, but the dress is mine now and I just have to deal with it.

I wore a very form fitting mermaid shaped dress for our wedding and I had no problems sitting.

It helped that I worked with a very talented designer and she altered the dress to fit like a glove. Also I have to admit, its a pain in the butt to sit down elegantly. spanx might help!
