I NEVER even thought about a colored stone ring UNTIL I saw a picture of a band on here I fell in love with. Granted my E ring is regular diamond (haha.. that sounds funny to write) I am waiting on a blue diamond and “regular” diamond wedding band to arrive.

TBH I didnt even realize there were different colored diamonds until I joined this board!!

(I’m not a big jewelry person .. don’t hold it against me.. hehe)

Speaking from experience I debated (and flipped flopped back and forth) over the diamond vs. gemstone question. Truthfully I have never wanted a diamond, but my BF works in a jewelry store and was always singing the Diamond Hallelujah Chorus so I began to secondguess myself. Fiance lost patience with that and reminded me to go with what was most like me and I went with my blue sapphire and never regretted it for one second.

@stardustintheeyes:

My engagement ring is aquamarine with diamonds around (I included a picture below of it for you). Don’t get me wrong I like diamonds, but everyone’s rings started to look the same to me. I saw someone wearing an aquamarine ring (not an e-ring) and I feel in love right then and there and knew that was what I wanted. I let my (then boyfriend) know that I didn’t want a diamond, but an aquamarine instead. He asked me a few times if I was sure – that I wouldn’t regret not having a diamond and I assured him that I wouldn’t.

(Also if you look up the meaning behind aquamarine stones, imo, they become even more attractive).

A few months later – he gave me this! I am so in love with my ring, even after being engaged for a few months I still stare at it. I get compliments on it constantly! The only suggestion I have is to go to a jeweler to have this done. My fiance picked out the stone first, and then had it placed an engagement setting. Engagement setting are sturdier than regular rings since you wear them more often.

Good luck with your decision!!!

The only struggle I have in owning my ring is when people ask me why I went with a sapphire…but only if they do it with judgement in their voice. Or if they say, “did you know he was getting you a sapphire?” By now I just sorta have my spiel remebered, “Yes, we made the decision together. It’s funny but we have different reasons for wanting one. I like the symbolism of loyalty, it’s the birthstone of the month we met, and I love their striking look. He likes that while they’re not cheap, their cost is true unlike diamonds because there are no cartels associated with them.” Through it all I’m still crazy for my sapphire. So as long as comments from others won’t make you think twice, you’ll be happy with your choice. 🙂

I had that exact same doubt, which is why we went with a moissanite solitaire and then got a solitaire enhancer with blue sapphires so I have the color I wanted.  However I still drool over color rings… but its only been like a year since we got engaged haha.  I will absolutely get a morganite RHR one day (or citrine)

Here is my ruby!

I chose it because of family reasons and I love the color red…it exudes passion and love to me.  I honestly can’t imagine ever getting sick of it as it has so much meaning to me.  As far as clothing, I usually wear “jewel” tones and black, and I do feel like the color stone matches the dramatic flair of my personality.

I’m about 90% sure I want green beryl, since it will look awesome with my favorite color- gray and I’ve never seen a pretty, naurally gray gemstone, it’s pretty close to prasiolite (commonly called green amethyst- although it isn’t actually amethyst).

Comes in tons of different shades… and is heated to make blue aquamarine.

@stardustintheeyes:  I understand completely. I’m horribly indecisive.  I’m sure your ring will be beautiful and I can’t wait to see ring pics.
