@KatyElle:  Yes it is! Thanks, that means a lot coming from you. I still miss seeing your padparadscha on the boards.

I have a fancy gold band that my husband designed, and I don’t regret anything. Then again, I’m not really a “diamond” girl, so there’s that. But you can always change your ring in the future, if you decide you want one.

@KatyElle:  Do you have any pics of the pad ring? I always hear about it, but I’ve only seen your moissy ring.

Oh! What about a precision cut tourmaline? Or even a native? Tourmaline has been my latest obsession. The greens are SO beautiful. I saw one recently, a cushion, set in a rose gold halo and it was absolutely to die for. I can post a pic of it if you’re interested in seeing it. Poor DH had to hear me go on about how gorgeous it was and how we should get it for me for Christmas. oh, if only we had more money. 🙂 but seriously, check out tourmalines.

@claireos:  I love RG with green tourmaline! I ordered this RHR from WingedLion a couple of weeks ago. I can’t wait to get it!

Here’s more views of the all-silver version:

I really hesitate to post pics because someone else owns it now, but in the spirit of Thanksgiving (and being thankful for my daughter making such major progress, the reason I sold it) here you go:

The thing about colored stones is, it can be really addicting and it can take years to develop an “eye” for the good stuff. But I can say once you have attained something special, it is very rewarding. People who know nothing about jewelry can look at your ring and know they are seeing something extremely unique. There is a Leon Mege ring with a Paraiba tourmaline, set with french cuts that I have drooled over so many times. If I ever saw it on someone’s hand IRL, well… it would be like seeing a lion in a restaurant or something.

@KatyElle:  Stunning. Are those pink diamonds or sapphires in the first halo?

And I know the exact LM ring you speak of – it’s just….amazing.

@KatyElle:  I can’t wait to see your new project. I’ve always admired your taste in stones and was sorry to hear you had to get rid of the last ring- but I’m happy to hear your daughter is doing well. 🙂

How about a green moissy? They’re super sparkly and still colourful!

I had a gemstone ring for my first engagement. I requested it because I wanted to be budget friendly. However, this time around I chose a diamond. Truth be told, I never felt particularly “bridal” with the gemstone ring. To me, it felt like a nice piece of fashion jewelry instead of an engagement ring. I wouldn’t be happy with a clear gemstone either. I’d rather have a plain gold band than a moissanite, white sapphire, etc. In my opinion, the color and sparkle of a diamond cannot be beat!
