Check your state and local legal codes before you proceed. It would be terrible to learn that you weren’t marrried because you and DH didn’t do a first dance.
OK, END OF TERRIBLE JOKE! Seriously, what you do is up to YOU and DH!
If you prefer to pass on a first dance, DO SO. Do something else or do nothing at all. NO ONE WILL CARE!

My friend is getting married next year and she is not having a first dance, speeches, posed photos, a cake or a line up. All things her and her fiance find uncomfortable so they aren’t doing them. I think it’s so important to let yourself adjust your day to what suits you both and not feeling forced into doing things that are the complete opposite of your personality.
My ex husband ruined our first dance anyway by spending the entire song yelling across the room for his best man to come and join in.

Definitely not necessary! No reason you need to sway around the dance floor while everyone stares at you lol. Might as well just get the party started!
