Honestly, whether it looks small is entirely a matter of opinion.

As far as I’m concerned half a carat is a lovely size and bigger than most of my friends’ engagement rings.

I think it all depends on the setting – I agree that the appearance is a state of mind.  I’ve seen plenty of gorgeous rings with smaller diamonds!

It will look lovely! I have a .20-.22 solitaire marquise on a size 7 finger & it looks lovely. If you want to see a picture I can post one. & You can see that yours will look much larger.

Either way, it will be beautiful! 🙂 Keep us posted!

To be honest. When my Fiance and I went searching for engagement rings the ring I fell in love with was 1/2 carat side stones and 1/2 centerstone. I got the same ring custom made from another jewler with a 3/4 carat centerstone and 1/2 carat side stones because I felt 1/2 carat was too small. I wear size 5 ring size. sometimes I think my 3/4 carat centerstone is too small and want a full carat.

I love my .56 ct. I think it is the “perfect” size, because you can add some bling to the band, but still classy on its own. (as are all diamonds I guess, lol) I have a size 6.5/7 finger!

Not at all. Had you said a .54 cushion I would have said it might look a little small given cushions face up smaller. But brilliants face up the largest, so a .54 doesn’t look tiny at all. The best piece of advice I can give is stop by a jeweler at some point and have them show you .5 stones in settings. When we first started looking I thought the ideal round for me would be 1ct. Turns out the .75 looked significantly better. But I would have never know had I not tried the ring on.

I have a .4 center stone and it’s a stunning IMO.

.59ct Lucida cut (deeper cuts make the table look smaller and mine is a deep cut) on a size 6 finger.

@Lilubird: I can’t remember if I have ever seen your rings together or not. But your e-ring & band together are gorgeous!
