My center stone is .50 carat. I think it’s perfect–I wouldn’t want anything bigger.
The setting makes a lot of difference as to how it looks on your hand. I think that if you find the ring you love, then the size really doesn’t matter, because you’ll be so proud of it you’ll rock it like it’s a 15.0 carat.

Thank you so much! 🙂
Your rings are indeed gorgeous, too!

Exactly what she said. I’m a size 7. I tried on 1/2 c and it looked great. Ideally, I prefer 3/4 and would be happy with either size. And honestly when you hold up 3/4 to 1c its a barely noticable size differance (and a great cost savings to). You need to see for yourself what works on your hand.

@hannahmarie: Keep in mind that a loose stone will always look larger once it is set. Also, the shape of the diamond will affect how large it looks. For example, a princess cut or asscher tends to look a little bit smaller when you compare it to a round brilliant of equal carat weight. Similarly, an oval or marquis may look large compared to a round brilliant.
My advice would be to go to anywhere and try on a 1/2 ct solitaire with the same stone shape that you are considering. This way you can judge for yourself how it looks on your hand.

Mine is a 0.53 and my ring size is 5 1/2 if that helps.
There’s a picture of it on my icon.

Mine is .52 ct round and I also have 7.5 ring size. I think it is perfect. Not big but not small either. I also was able to bling it up with the wedding bands.

Love this setting!
I love the two wedding band look, however for my job I do not think I will be able to were my e-ring so I want a band that look good all on it own.
I may just have to get two wedding bands.

This is my very first post! Personally I think half a carat as you see in my pic is a beautiful size. Mine was enhanced with a halo and sits quite high. Nevertheless, a beautiful quality diamond will catch more eyes than a lower quality but larger diamond.
