So we are paying a pretty penny for our wedding dresses. Yes, we’ll probably only wear them on one day but we want them to look good on that day.
So, do wedding gown trains/hems get super dirty during the day? We are considering an outside ceremony but I can’t imagine how I’d react to grass stains on the underside or on my train.Of course, we all see photos of brides in their dresses in ll kinds of grass and muck (photogenic muck, that is). 🙂
Did/does anyone have any issues with keeping your dress clean on your wedding day?

I had an outside wedding and it didn’t get too dirty at all… some dirt but it was underneath so it didn’t show in the pics. I threw the wedding dress in the “hand wash” cycle in the washing machine afterwards and voila, all good. LOL.
Go ahead, don’t let a dirty dress ruin your fun on your day!

It’s impossible to keep your wedding dress clean on your wedding day, unless you have a short dress. Despite my best efforts my hem definitely got dirty at our garden wedding, and it hadn’t rained for a month prior to the day. Then I walked through a puddle of red wine. So, inside dirt/outside dirt… it’s gonna find ya. Might as well get over it and find a good dry cleaner.

Yup! I had my wedding outside on nice green grass, and got grass/dirt stains on the underside of my dress. You can’t see them from the outside of the dress though, so if you are concerend, just have the dress drycleaned as soon after the wedding as you are able. I didn’t even have a train and I STILL got stains. Like SapphireSun said, it’s probably going to happen, so just get it drycleaned after and enjoy your wedding day 🙂

I had mine in a garden so yes it did get a little dirty at the bottom… I didn’t have any grass stains but it was black along the hem-line. But it wasn’t from the ceremony though -it was from moving around and taking pictures. If you have a good cleaner it shouldn’t be a problem.. i am not worried about mine. I made sure to have something to sit on for any pictures that were seated and no one will notice any marks at the very bottom of your dress

Thanks, all! Ok, I won’t worry about it (too much) then 🙂

This may sound strange but I love looking at the hem of my wedding dress (and train) from our June wedding — it’s absolutely f i l t h y and reminds me of what a wonderful time we had. I have never been so adorned (not adored, though I hope so), so formal in my dress, so dressed up! Yet we were so real throughout the night and it shows on my dress and the soles of my shoes. I say go for it! Live/love the dream for the day! Why would you want to worry about keeping your dress clean after worrying about all that kind of stuff for months? just food for thought.
