People will notice, but they’ll forget/won’t be able to see them once they sit down. Then when the lights go off and you start dancing, they’ll never see them again! IMO chair covers are pretty darn ugly themselves.

Yak:  I’m a chair person! Haha.

Honestly, yes I would notice them at the time… but like other PPs said, I wouldn’t make a big deal about it and I would forget about them. I also don’t like chair covers. Such a watse of money and they get all tangled up. I would rather have green chairs than chair covers! Our chairs are brown, and there’s some orange! Oh gawd… really going to try to not use the orange ones, but realistically as long as their comfortable it won’t be a big deal. I don’t remember the chairs at any wedding I’ve been to.

I agree with julies1949 that most of the time the chair covers look worse than the actual chairs. The covers with bows (which is what most people get) look like they came straight out of 1992. I wouldnt notice ugly chairs but I’d definitely notice dated chair covers.

I just went to a wedding last weekend, and I couldn’t even tell you what the chairs looked like.  The room was dim and had beautiful uplighting, and the centerpieces and other decor were so nice that I really never took notice of the chairs. They were definitely not covered, and that is all that I remember.

So many better ways to spend your money!

personally I feel there are very few chairs that are uglier than chair covers. forest green conference chairs sound like they will blend in and not be the cause of a horrible decorative nightmare.

Chair covers are ugly, especially those with aa giant bow on the back! Keep the chairs! Do you have a pic of the room?

I really think it depends on how bad the chairs are and how much the rest of the room is decorated. For the most part, people probably won’t notice and those that do probably won’t care. All will forget. With that said however, if you have spent tons of money on beautiful centerpieces, linens, floral arrangement etc…it is probably worth the extra expense to complete the look with nicer chairs. I’ve seen beautifully decorated higher-budget reception spaces where the couple opted not to rent chair covers or nicer chairs. In that instance it was very noticeable and the room did look unfinished like a PP mentioned. So yes, it’s a chair and in the grand scheme of things they aren’t a huge deal to most people. I would just be careful that leaving them uncovered or not renting nicer chairs doesn’t take away from whatever other decorations you are using before making a decision. If they do, I personally would spend the extra cash to make the room look finished. Chair covers suck, but sometimes they are the lesser of two evils.

Yak:  Unless you’re having hunter green as one of your wedding colours – people will notice.  They likely won’t care or comment on it, but yes they will notice.  Espeically if you’ve gone out of your way to decorate the room and create a look to leave the chairs that may possibly clash.  I would consider renting chair covers or rent pretty chairs!

I am planning my second wedding and if you would have asked me years ago when I planned my first I would have said splurge and get the chair covers because I am pretty detail oriented. Now that I have been there done that so to speak, I would not spend the extra money. I do not think that the way your chairs look on your wedding day matter. Just my two cents. 🙂

I always notice chairs at weddings, but I could just be weird. I would rent other chairs if my venue had really ugly ones.

I’m with the pp who hate chair covers. They remind me of cobwebbed unused rooms in movies about haunted English manors. When people have had them, i have remembered how they looked– and not in a good way. But I can’t remember how the chairs looked at any wedding that did not have covers. If you’re bothered by the chairs and are considering spending extra to cover them, see if you can use that money to bring in nice chairs to start with.

I’d either rent nicer chairs or go with the ones provided, but I would not spend money on chair covers.

Do people actually notice ugly chairs. Yes.

Do you need chair covers? No. Of course not.

Honestly, it’s all up to your budget. If you have extra money to spend, go ahead and get chair covers or rent nicer chairs. If your budget is pushed to the max already, don’t sweat it.

I am one of those people that notices ugly chairs. When you have a lovely venue and tablescapes, the chairs become that much more of an eyesore. I would probably scrimp on other areas of my budget (no favors, cheap-o wedding dress, etc.) to make nicer chairs happen. It all depends.
