Some stores have dresses you can buy off the rack.

If one of the samples fits you might be able to take it home on the spot. I was totally surprised when I walked out of my dress shopping appointment with my actual dress in my hands. I was expecting a 4-6 month wait to have it ordered. The consultant said they’ll just order another one for the shop. And I got a discount for purchasing a dress that had been used as a sample!

If you love your dress, don’t do it!  If you start down that road, you may never be satisfied because you’ll keep wondering what if there’s EVEN BETTER?!  Trouble!

audrey_lane:  If you love your dress than i’d advise against it, you don’t want to confuse yourself!

That said, if you just don’t feel right with the one you have, it’s worth asking. When my mother remarried about 7 years ago (in her 30’s) she wore a stunning wedding gown that was custom made for her and it was done in under 3 months (they had a 3 month engagement and pulled off an amazing black tie wedding with 200 guests .. our engagement will be just over 18 months. I don’t know how they did it! haha)

Long story short, it can be done, but some dressmakers may not be open to taking it on, on such short notice. Have a chat with them and see how you go! 🙂

Most salons will let you purchase the sample, if you really end up loving the gown.
