I understand your concern.  my Mom bought her gown (navy blue) months before wedding. I told my then Future Mother-In-Law that my mom had purchased her gown ( and thst it was navy ) as soon as she told me. Mother-In-Law waited until like 2 weeks before wedding and bought 2 dresses to choose from, a ‘silver ‘ dress and a ‘purple’ dress (aka ivory and a navy lol.). 

I felt so bad for my mom since she rarely dresses up and I wanted her to feel special.  I pushed for the ivory dress even though that color of my dress so that my mom would stand out. Unfortunately mil chose the navy.  It worked out fine my mom was super sweet about it however I was so angry Inside.

I think they are both different enough and very pretty and Future Mother-In-Law needs to get over it if she has an issue.

I like the two together and the fact yor moms is sparkly so she will stand out more. It shouldn’t be an issue but you know the moms best so.
