That sounds great to me, but one thing that popped to mind was to maybe layer the squares in an offset so all tables have both.  Are you talking about ones that cover the whole table, or like a 12×12 square that will just go in the middle under the centrepiece?  If they’re full overlays, I prefer them to be consistent to my eye.

Personally I don’t like the idea of alternating the squares – would you alternate napkins too? If so, that will look too busy. 

I do like your option of all silver squares and blue napkins for all tables.

@bridalprincess:  Hummm, well since it would only be the table squares, and not the napkins, I do like the idea of alternating them – I think that would totally work!

Are you going to have chair sashes?  You could have blue table squares with silver sashes?

I also think alternating would look good too!  On tables with blue table squares – you could have a silver centerpiece (vase or candle holders) and on the silver you could have a blue centerpiece (blue hydrangea)…

I probably wouldnt have more than two variations of centerpieces if youre going to alternate the squares – just to keep things consistent.

go for the alternating.  i’ve seen that done at a wedding and it looked great!
