Just wanted to get any thoughts or input on whether this ring will be as pretty as I hope. First of all, being a man I kind of feel out of place on this board but wanted some feedback on an engagement ring and knew this would be the ideal place to get it. Let me know what you think about this ring. It is from James Allen and the particulars are: .91 ct G color VS2 clarity Ideal cut hearts and arrows. It will be mounted in a tiffany solitaire mounting 2mm platinum band. She has somewhat smaller hands and wears a size 5. What do you think? I know with it being already ordered that its kind of a mute point to ask for feedback now but hope I did ok on the selection……..

sounds beautiful to me. doesn’t get more classic and timeless than a solitaire. i wear a size 5 too (altho my hands aren’t all that small…just slender fingers) and i have several gemstone rings FAR larger than a carat that don’t look odd on my finger, so i’m sure she’ll love it and it’ll be perfect!

Sounds classic and lovely! Solitaires are my favorite!

Sounds beautiful. I’m a big fan of solitaires (I have one) and love their timeless and classic look. Can’t wait to hear the proposal story and see pics!

I have tiny hands and I wear a size 4.75 on my ring fingers- a 5.5 on my middle finger. My ring (rings rather) have large stones, and they are not too big for my hands, because the settings are appropriate for my hands. From what you have described the ring you are planning on sounds lovely. Like the PP, nothing is as timeless as a solitaire and I think she will love it.

I think it will be gorgeous. My ring is a solitaire, with a 2mm white gold band. It’s a smaller stone – just over half a carat – but the same color and clarity as the stone you chose. My finger size is 5.5.

“Moot” point. Not mute.
Sounds very nice to me! Nice diamond stats, should be a good sized diamond on a size 5.

@KatyElle: I love people with large vocabularies!!!
I think it sounds lovely and I am sure she will love it.

While I am sure you were not the first to catch my grammatical error KatyElle you were the only one who felt the need to point it out. In doing so you showed everyone here that you are academically superior to us all! So while you love people with large vocabularies, I love smug irritating people who have to run around reminding others just how perfect and smart they are. Thank you to everyone else who had an intelligent response. I am not an expert on diamonds or jewelry but did some homework on the 4 c’s and all. I thought the stats on this diamond were good. I will get the ring on Wednesday and hope it is as pretty in real life as I have it pictured in my mind. I have not figured out my proposal but will give it much thought and planning. For the record I am a Marine Corps veteran with 6 years of active duty service. (my user name of Semp is short for Semper Fidelis, the Marine Corps motto). All of my time was in an infantry unit out of Camp Pendleton, California. I have 2 tours in Iraq. I thank God on most days that I am lucky enough to be alive and be able to worry about rings, proposals, etc etc. I lost several good friends while in who never got the chance in life to do this. I got out a few years ago and have been dating my girlfriend for a little over a year now. Thanks again

Lol, what a typical man response (concerning the grammar). Also she’s not superior to ALL of us, because I caught it too. But thanks for your service 🙂
In the future, pricescope.com is the best for the “is my diamond good” inquiry. They will look at ASET numbers, size ratios, idealscope images, etc. to make sure that the “ideal” diamond really is ideal, and that you’re getting a good price for it.

Man, I feel for your fiancee. Is she ever allowed to be correct, or smarter than you?

Yep this is why I avoid forums. Thank most of you for your intelligent responses. (Personal attack removed) You 2 should get together and you could sit around and tell each other how smart you are. The men in your lives are really lucky to have you. Yeah boy. Don’t thank me for my service GoldfishPie because I didn’t do it for the likes of you. Go ahead and post your bs responses because when I post this I am outta here and won’t be back.
