Here’s the situation. I want plain satin pumps because i want to have them hand beaded and embellished. this supposedly takes some time. so i can’t wait for my dress to get here to have the shoes dyed to the exact shade of my blush dress (plus i think that screams bridesmaid if they are too matchy matchy)
so normally i would think white satin with blush satin is a no no, BUT the top of my dress is done with white glass beads…i know you cant really tell from this pictures.. so i thought maybe white shoes would be ok? i plan on incoroporating some pearl in my headpiece too?
here’s the dress
now you’re probably thinking a) no one will see the shoes anyways so who cares? but since i’m having them embellished i do want to show off the shoes in pics etc.
and now you’re thinking oh the embellishment will cover the white of the shoe anyways, but it’s just going to be the heels and like back half of the shoe
heres stock photo of my dress

Is that your actual dress? Maybe it’s my monitor but your dress looks white to me? If not, it’s kind of hard to say without seeing the shade of the dress and the shoes in question. I want to say I think it’s totally fine but it would be better to see pics 🙂

@laurelewrigley: I would worry that white would make the blush look dingy in real life. I say either dye to match or pick a clearly different shade (platinum, rose gold, something?)
Also, I love your dress, I saw you post it on another thread, but WTF is going on with the crinoline? It looks like you’re smuggling children under there! I’d look for a slip that gets gradually bigger instead of that one.

@Cyri: Yeah, it looks white to me on my screen too. 🙁 I would think white and blush would make a very pretty contrast, but maybe her dress is such a light shade of blush that it wouldnt look right next to white shoes…?
ETA and the stock photo looks light a dark ivory or light champagne to me. Meh, I’m usually good with colors, but maybe not today 🙂

Love your dress!!! My dress is a subtle blush so I think I’m going to go with pink shoes to avoid the matchy-matchy issue. I think white would be fine, or silver or gold, or any more saturated color (pink or blue?).

@Cyri: yes thats my actual dress…it’s not white. it;s called “blush” but it’s more of a peachy than a pink
@drlolaz: i know right?! it’s horrid lol. i was just wearing the same one i had been wearing through the whole appointment and i think that was the first and only mermaid i put on… i’m not really sure what to wear under it
@RunnerBride13: i thought about blue but i thought that would be throwing even more weird colors into the mix…the dress is already such a weird hue…its way more pink than ivory, but not champagne. i dunno its weird lol
finding a viel is going to be torture!!!

I would think that white shoes would clash.
How about a nice nude/peachy pink shoe? Badgley Mischka has some nice options!

@laurelewrigley: Your bridesmaids are going to be in peachy-blush shades, right? What about going for rose gold or metallic shoes (gold, silver or champagne)? I feel like white might be slightly off compared to the pale peach of your dress. Something like this perhaps?

I think champagne or silver would be pretty!!!

I’m on board for champagne shoes – I think they’d be just lovely and you’d avoid the white vs. blush thing all together! 🙂

I think the white would be too stark a contrast with the blush. I would do champagne, or rose gold.

@laurelewrigley: who is the designer of your dress? I have never seen it before and think its lovely!

@laurelewrigley: Nevermind. I just happened across it on another thread. Jim Hjelm 8250.
