OH! I’ve never heard of that or seen one. Or maybe I just never noticed?! Huh. Kind of a big job, being someone’s wedding hostess… I’m with ccranetobe, I just sort of figured my mom and other associated parties would step in where appropriate and get the job done. LOL!

it seems like “hostess” isn’t a commonly used term, so before sending the card i would be sure the person you’re sending to knew exactly what you were asking her to do.  or you could include a short blurb in the card with what you are requesting her to do?

Who is this person?  Will they be offended that they are not in the wedding party but now just a hostess?

If this person was hoping to be a bridesmaids, then they might be offended.

If this person wasn’t expecting to be a bridesmaids, then maybe they might feel honored to do it.

I don’t know.  It could go both ways.

Oh, by the way, I asked my bm with a card, too.  They loved it!

I think this is a great idea.  It will make the position even more special for the person you intend to honor.

I think sending her a card is a great idea!  I didn’t know what a hostess was either, but since she asked you to be her hostess, I’m sure not knowing won’t be an issue.
