LilliV : Our company-backed plan is Aflac with a supplement from Colonial, and their coverage setup (for us) is hardly worth the cost – for most options, we’d be better off just saving up money instead of buying insurance. Not trying to be a Negative Nancy but the situation really stinks.

misstomorris : I wasn’t implying it was a benefit, just making sure you know your rights when it comes to FMLA.

misstomorris : ugh that’s a bummer. The way I saved for the unpaid portion of my leave was to “pay” daycare to a savings account as soon as we started TTC. The upside of taking 2 years to even get pregnant was that the account was pretty fat by the time we finally got our baby!

I had a baby lsat June and got 4 months off paid. I work at a univeristy that has a generous maternity leave package. We get 3 months then I used a montfh of vacation time. It was fabulous! The only problem is that I now want this summer off too. Wish I wasn’t so old so we could have another kid. I live in the US where mat leave is usually crap so I was lucky.
