My mother is one of 12 kids, so between all the aunts, uncles, and cousins, even if I invited every distant friend I have, the relatives would far outweigh the friends count!

Mostly family. Fiance and I both have large families. He has lots of friends, but I placed a limit on how many he could invite. IMO weddings aren’t about inviting everyone you’ve ever hung out with. I’d much rather be surrounded by the people I love the most.

I have a very small family, only 14 people, and my mother just informed me that I might not be able to count on all of them making it (my grandfather has apparently decided that he no longer wants to fly, and he sure ain’t driving from Houston to Wisconsin).  FI’s immediate family is the same size, although his mother has added an additional 20 extended family to the guest list with the assurance that it’s only for appearances and they won’t actually attend.  That leaves the balance of our 150-guest list to my and FI’s friends, and friends of our parents, although honestly, I count most of my parents’ friends as family in their own right.

I have 60 cousins alone on one side…..so needless to say it was either have no/minimal family there or way more than friends.  We opted for the large family option and it was great!

Almost every guest from my side is a friend. Most of FHs side will be relatives.

Friends for me. I’m not close to the majority of my extended relatives and I don’t want to treat our wedding as some kind of family reunion. I have relatives that I have never even met and I’m not going to choose them over my friends who I do see all the time and who actually know me and the Fiance.

My Fiance and I both have small families, so there will definitely be more friends.

Mainly family since we’re having a destination wedding.
