My husband is a "second."  There will be no more of his (and his dad’s) name, and I think he’s ok with that.  ๐Ÿ™‚

@Mrs. Spring, what’s the difference between a "Jr." and a "second"?

We haven’t really discussed this subject, but I’m pretty sure he doesn’t want a "Jr." haha.

I think his dad thought "second" sounded higher class than "junior."  ๐Ÿ™‚  Lol, I really don’t know, and it’s really annoying when my husband gets calls, emails, credit reports, etc… that are meant for his father.

Edit:  I guess technically the difference would be that we could name our kid the same name and continue the tradition with a "third"?  We won’t be doing this, for the record.

My Fiance is not into Juniors, but I’d like to name our girl (if we have one) after my Mother-In-Law because I like her name!!! (I mean… cause I want to honor her!) ๐Ÿ™‚

Not that I don’t like my husband’s name, but I am glad that he doesn’t want a "Junior".  He has a pretty uncommon name, so I think it would be challenging for a kid to have.  Not to mention, I always think it complicates things to have two people with the same name around.

Oh and my son IS a Junior!  We will have lots of guys w/numbers running around.  My house will feel like either a football field or a baseball diamond!

My guy is not a Jr. or a Second but he and his dad have the same first name and a different middle name. We’ve talked about it and I don’t think we are going to name our son (if we have one) after him. What we would like to do is use my dad’s middle name and his dad’s middle name and the same with our mothers’ middle names. We already have our son’s nickname picked out.

My sister is pregnant now, and if it’s a boy (*fingers crossed*) then he’ll be Will, after my Brother-In-Law Bill.  But their middle names will be different. I think it gets tricky when the entire name is the same (like for taxes, etc.).

My Fiance has his dad’s 1st name for his middle name.  So Fiance would like his name to be our son’s middle name.   I like his mother’s maiden name as a middle name, but he doesn’t….  I would like to use my family names as middle names, since they’ll get FI’s last name.

As far back as I can remember my Boyfriend or Best Friend always said we would name our son after him. I love his name, so fine by me! ๐Ÿ™‚

Nope.  My Fiance and I are both very against this.  He shares a middle name with his dad and hates that his dad impossed his identity on him.  We both think there are a million beautiful names out there, why circulate the same ones?
