My husband made ours!  He is in construction so building things is his 2nd nature!  I love that we had it as part of our ceremony!  Guests commented afterwards how unique it was and how they really enjoyed it!

We did this as well but ours was a “rum” box.  😉  I found a nice box from a home store, glued 2 peices of ribbon to the underside and tied the box close until we open it.  It was $18 in supplies.

Here is a pic of it with our sand ceremony vases.

we had a smallish bottle of rum that fit perfectly diagonally in the box.  We just added our letters and tied the ribbons up.  Get to open it soooon.  🙂

@KKG:  I have liked this idea since I saw it pin pinterest. Just mentioned it to my fiancé and he really likes it too. I think its something unique and gives you somephong to look forward to in a year, two or whatever you decide.

i got mine a Michaels craft store with a 50% off coupon and used a wood-burning tool (under $20 from home depot) to carve our initials, date, and grape vine design. It now sits on a shelf in our living room : )

We got our wine box on etsy.com and we did the ceremony during the reception, right before the cake, for a couple of reasons. Once we decided to do the wine box during the reception, we were able to get small notecards printed up (vistaprint.com); we put those on the dining tables and asked guests to write their notes to us, which we collected and put into the wine box too. We’ll read those when we open and drink our wine on our 5th anniversary.

Also our officiant advised us not to include the usual wording about “open and drink the wine and read the letters if you’re having a rough patch” because she found it too negative. She said everyone knows that any couple is going to have a rough patch, that’s basically why we say “for better or for worse,” but you don’t need to go planning a rough patch while you’re celebrating your wedding.

I am planning on doing this for our wedding as well!!! I was planning on trying to make the box ourselves. I really love some of the idea and designs y’all have posted!!!  Right now fiance and I are trying to find a bottle of wine that WE both like…. being quite a challenge (but fun cause we love wine lol) because he likes reds, and I likes whites (sigh).

@fishbone: I really love the idea of putting other people’s comments in the box as well. I think I may ask some of my closest friends and family to do it beforehand, so we can place them in the box during the ceremony. And we are planning on opening the box on a specific anniversary, rather than beacuse we were in a rough patch (cause trust me we have already been there lol).

How is everyone planning on listing this part of thier ceremony in their programs? I feel like “Wine and love letter Box Ceremony” is a mouth full!
