Aww. That is such a sweet add-on, having your grandparents hammer it in… I think the wine box ceremony is very meaningful, even if it is is a modern idea/tradition.

We did it!

We had a little bit of a different spin on it – we didn’t do the hammer/nails. Our guests had the option of including a little note to go into the box with our notes to each other. My nieces and nephews picked up the notes during the ceremony while my sister and niece sang. It was awesome. I can’t wait to to open it in 4.5 years!

We are planning a variation on this. We will be making a mini time capsule of our relationship and not include any wine. I think we will also read our letter to eac other during the ceremony instead of waiting 5-10 years.
