I don’t know what type of wine to recommend for you, but you need to buy a wine that can age.  If you buy a bottle of wine from the liquor store and it is standing upright, it will only last about 3 years.  I would say look around for wine tastings in your area so you and your Fiance can find something that both of you like!

This website has a nice chart that might be helpful http://www.cellarnotes.net/howlongtohold.htm

However, most wines you can buy in a store will only last maybe 10 years if they are stored properly (i.e. in a temperature controlled system). And you are probably going to have to spend at least $75, if not more. Cabernet Sauvignon usually ages the best.

What if instead of keeping a bottle for 25 years, you did 10 years and replaced the bottle? And do it again at your 20 year anniversary?

Also, make sure you store your box so the bottle is laying down. The cork needs to be kept moist from the wine or else it will dry out and the wine will either go bad or you will cork the bottle when you open it.
