Oh no, is it not wintery to have flowers on the cake?

I plan on having mine kind of like this except NOT as many flowers, and we will have a gold ribbon around the bottom of each layer, and also our initials in crystals at the top…

I’m not sure why these pictures didn’t resize like I told them to — I’m sorry!!

Our actual wedding cake won’t be of much help to you, since it’s a replica of Fenway Park (photo from the bakery that will make it, Concord Teacakes). Our venue typically includes a fabulous cake with their package, but we substituted a Viennese Pastry table instead. People keep calling it our groom’s cake, but nope — it really is our wedding cake!

Before we made the decision to go non-traditional, we found one style of cake that I think is perfect for a winter wedding. This pic is from Mrs. Pug’s wedding, and we would have eliminated the flowers and cake-topper and just added a brooch swag. I think flowers are fine for winter if you’re already decorating with them (we won’t have any actual flowers, but lots of evergreens and other nonflorals instead) and if they coordinate with your overal theme or scheme.

Sorry the photo is so HUGE, but this is our main inspiration pic. No flowers, but lots of details. Traditional in the sense that it is a white, 3-tiered cake – but with at least one layer non-circular.

Simple, structured topper. =)

@CTbride2010: Ok, good I was worried! ๐Ÿ™‚ lol

@Ms. Anemone: Ohhhhhhhhh my, that cake is GORGEOUS! I much prefer that to mine, but my venue is including cake for free and I don’t know if I ask for something so specific if they would do it, or charge more for it….

@Ms. Anemone: That cake has some of the most beautiful detail work I’ve ever seen! I think it’s gorgeous.

@CTbride2010: Ohh, you’re from *that* part of CT hmmm? Totally kidding, I happen to think it’s awesome that the guys are entering with jerseys. We’re debating about throwing on our Sox hats and jerseys for the cake-cutting, but I wonder if that would be over-playing it too much.

If we ever have an anniversary party, I swear we’ll get a small tiered wedding cake. For now I’ll just drool over the pics posted here!

Here’s our inspiration photo:

The flowers on ours will be sparse, and it will mostly be all about the pearls, so I think it fits really well into the season.

@Tbride: No, I don’t! ๐Ÿ™ If I could only remember the webpage I nabbed it from… it was a wedding in MN, and I think the cake was by Gateaux.

We are having a scrabble themed wedding so this is what our cake is going to look like. Except with a H instead of M.

This is our cake kinda. The flowers are going to match mine in a deep purple and we have a cake topper. Oh and it is oval shaped off centered. But otherwise it looks like this, lol
