Thinking ahead, we’ll need to schedule an engagement session either for this winter (November/December) or EARLY spring (beginning of March) as we are getting married September of 2016 and STDs will need to get mailed out. Any thoughts on which might be prettier? The biggest issue I’m afraid of is having shots that are missing any sign of sun… I’m more than willing to be cold for an hour with either time of the year.

I would probably start by scheduling your session in November. I don’t know where you live, but on the East coast, Nov is still pretty mild. I also suggest scheduling earlier in case you need to reschedule down the line because of bad weather. I’m a wedding photog and last year we had to reschedule several winter sessions because the weather was either too cold (below freezing), raining, etc.

It’s hard to suggest a time of year without knowing where you live. If it were me, I’d go for Decemer/January. We get a ton of snow, and the winter shots would be lovely. In March, we sometimes still have snow, but it could be half melted and looking yucky, and there is still no sign of life in our trees, so it wouldn’t make for a nice setting.

I’m not sure where you live, but I’m in DC and we are having our e-pics taken in November. I’m hoping that it’ll be nice and fall-like still, but you never know with this area, there could be a random blizzard!
