In outside of NYC and the weather is suppose to be bearable tomorrow, I think you’ll be fine in flats.  I think your dres would be cut with boots or booties though to be honest!

Wear some booties, not flats. You will be COLD and the booties will be more supportive to your feet. You can always pair it with a pair of stockings to keep you more warm!

lkdbee :  My suggestion, dress appropriately for the weather. My biggest peeve as a photographer is when people are not dressed appropriately, because it does affect their photos. If you’re out there freezing to death, you won’t be comfortable and it’ll show. When my couples (espeically the ladies) try to wear short dresses in winter they’re always shivering, have goosebumps, their legs are blue, etc. Likewise when I get people wearing long shirts and pants in the summer and guys are sweating through their shirt that’s not very pretty either.

Put on a dress and flats and a coat and go outside and walk around for an hour to test it out and see if you can manage. If you’re freezing, you might want to rethink it. At the very least if you are set on this outfit I’d do maybe 10-15 minutes in it, and then change into something warmer for the rest of your session. It doesn’t matter how great the location is if the subject doesn’t look good.

Wear shoes with good traction, I’m guessing booties are better than flats. Central Park is currently very icy. There’s freezing rain in the forecast overnight, so more ice. 🙁

and yes, a second outfit might be a good idea.
