Have any bees out there had a winter wedding at a ski resort? We love skiing, and we’re having a very small (30 guests) wedding, so we decided to do it in Telluride, which I think is the most beautiful ski town in CO. The vast majority of our guests are skiers (most are from CO, and many skied with Fiance on his college ski team) , so everyone is really excited. Has anyone else done this? Any tips? Thanks!

@cologirl: I think a wedding at a ski resort, in front of a fire place with the snow coming down outside sounds wonderful!! I have no tips for you, other than to enjoy it, sounds amazing!! As a side note, I see you’re in Boulder! How are you? My Lord this flooding is terrible (I’m in Co Springs).

My photographer is based out of Telluride, and it looks like he’s done several wedding shoots on the slopes. I’m sending you a PM.

Thanks! I’m actually in Louisville, which is about 5 minutes outside of Boulder, and our apartment complex is fine (thank God). We walked about 1/2 a mile down the road last night to check out the golf course, and what is usually a 5 ft wide trickling stream has turned into a 60 ft wide raging river, and the road is flooded everywhere. It’s insane! I hope you’re not getting any flooding!
It sounds like Lyons and Jamestown got the worst of it. Most of my friends live in Boulder (I’m a grad student at CU), and only a few have had flooding in their places. A few of my friends have been posting about a family in Lyons who lost everything they own, and they have 3 kids under the age of 2. It seems like people are rallying around them and trying to donate the stuff they need to survive, but it’s really sad. I really hope that they don’t find out that more people have died when they get into the mountain towns…

@sarahuccs: We’ve actually already hired Ben! I saw your pics when I was looking at his webpage. Your wedding looks amazing! Did you get married in Ouray?

@cologirl: It’s awful. Our home is fine, but about 10 min down the road in Manitou it’s a mess. The burn scars just add to this flooding nightmare! Sorry to hijack your post! Glad you’re ok!

I LOVE this idea!!! No tips for you, but it sounds awesome.
Stay safe girls! We’re up the road in Laramie WY and it’s been raining buckets here too, but not anywhere near what you’re getting!

Awww, thank you! Yes, we got married in Ouray (well, the ceremony was just outside of town).
I’m so glad you hired Ben! We are THRILLED with his work. Our guests kept commenting how hard he was working (ie, “Hey, your photgrapher laid in the stream to get that one shot…”, LOL). At the time we booked him, he seemed the most reasonably-priced for the types of pictures we were looking for. But now that he’s delivered our photos, DH and I agree that we would’ve been happy to have paid him MORE.
No matter how simple or complex your wedding will be, Telluride’s scenery guarantees that it will be GORGEOUS.

I think it sounds so awesome and beauitful!!! As a photographer, anything outside of the norm or unique are things we LIVE for!!! Colorado is so gorgeous! My Darling Husband is an avid skiier, and I enjoy it, but he’s really the die hard in the family..haha. We delayed our honeymoon 6 months so we could do a ski honeymoon – spend 2 weeks in Vail skiing.
