Hi ladies!! I’m actually regular on the Waiting board, but I’m anticipating joining you in the next couple weeks. We’ve started talking to our families about wedding dates. For years, I’ve dreamed of nothing but a winter wedding. We live in WNY near Buffalo and the winter weather can be pretty hairy. Although, the last couple years we’ve had pretty mild Decembers, with maybe one good snow storm mixed in there. All of our family is originally from this area and are use to the winter driving but I’m a little worried. Unfortunately, the Farmers Almanac for next December doesn’t come out until next October. What are your thoughts/concerns/experience/advice on this? Thanks, girls!

where are you thinking of having the wedding? perhaps if you’re at a hotel or a bed and breakfast you can block off a few hotel rooms for your guests in case the weather is harry… but if most of your guests are accustomed to the winter weather, i wouldn’t worry about it.

My sister had her wedding during a March Storm in Chicago. We were a little wet, but that’s what touchups are for. The priest made a few funny remarks about it, and honestly, thats what I remember, not the storm. Sounds corny, but the room was full of love- so the weather was the last thing on people’s minds.
Hopes that helps!

my sister got married last december and it snowed the night of her wedding. everyone still made it, and the pictures were amazing. don’t worry, people will find a way to get there, especially if you have the ceremony and the reception close to hotels.

That’s what I’m thinking. The two places that are at the top of our potential reception venue list are all literally within a 1-2 minute drive of I believe around 8 or 9 different hotels and they’re both directly at the off ramp from the thruway so it would be easy.
