Our wedding will be in the winter of 2013. We don’t have a venue booked but assume it will be indoors. One of my bridesmaids is upset that I won’t let her have a long-sleeved dress. I’ve never seen a long-sleeved bridesmaid dress, except for maybe a 1982 powder blue chiffon icky thing….
For outdoor pictures, I thought the girls could wear stolls (Spelling?) but the rest of the time, bare shoulder dress, just like any other wedding. Am I being unreasonable? anyone else run into this issue?

Well, you are in CA, so I can’t imagine it will be THAT bad. I was in a bridal party for a wedding that took place in the middle of January in the Hudson Valley, NY. It was FREEZING. The bride chose a strapless style of bridesmaid dress and she gave us all pashiminas, but I’m going to be completely honest, a pashmina did nothing to keep us warm when it was 25 degrees ouside. I think we took a total of 5 outdoor pictures because it was so cold out. We also RAN from the limo into the church. But again, I don’t know HOW cold it gets where you are- I’m sure some kind of wrap or cover-up will be appreciated by your girls in the end.

Oh, I should also mention that our wedding will be in Montana…. and the winters there are very cold! I get it… but I think most bridesmaids suck it up, right? I don’t want to be a bridezilla, but jeesh….

Weird. I can understand not wanting strapless if she’s self conscious about her arms or something, but long sleeved? Is it a religious or cultural reason behind this?
I feel like you could have them in similar dresses and hers could have straps or cap sleeves, etc.

so weird! I am getting married December of this year, and my bridesmaids had NO problem with stapless dresses. One is even from Miami and I am getting married in DC!

Past winter bride here. Got married in southern CA. My girls wore a floor length strapless dress. They were fine. It was 70 degrees on my wedding day though. Not sure where in CA you are, but winters are not that bad here.
EDIT: just saw your comment that the wedding is in Montana….Yikes that will be cold.

I’m getting married this December in Minnesota (or as they call it here, Minne-snow-ta) and my BMs are wearing sleeveless long dresses. I haven’t figured out what to do about outside pictures + cover-ups, but I’m not planning on doing too many outside pics. Nobody seems to have an issue with it.

im getting married dec.. my dresses are strapless and the bridesmaids had no issues.. i DID however by them all fur stoles..and asked them for a FEW quick outside pics because the ceremony will be ending right at dusk… the only joke was they were gonna get uggs for under their dresses- but no one actually has.
check online/ebay for stoles.. they run fairly cheap and they are warmer then pashimas..i and my flower girl will also be wearing them. ( and i got a muff for the flower girl!, i wanted muffs for all but Fiance hates them!)
You can get a stole like this:Or a jacket like i got my self like sort of this :
