One of my good friends had theirs in December. It was snowing like crazy but it made for some beautiful pictures. The girls wore silver dresses and had claret wraps. In the outdoor pics the bride had a white furry cape which was really pretty. they had a lot of snowflake decorations and gave away little bags of hot cocoa mix for favors. I would personally love to have a winter wedding but we have a lot of older guests and out of town guest coming and most of them wouldnt be able to make it we figure if we had a winter one.

We are in the early planning stages of our winter wedding. I’m pretty worried about our date though. We are getting married December 1, 2014. In Alberta the weather is so unpredictable it’s going to be risk. The date was a no brainer though, it is our 10 year anniversary. I can’t think of a better day to marry my best friend. So I am going to just pray for it to be nice and snowy but not storming. I am hoping to find a nice venue so that if we can’t go outside for photos we can still end up with beautiful pictures.

I went to one and they had the most beautiful pictures ever (it was up in the mountains and snowing).
But all I can remember from that day is how freezing cold I was!

@MissVisuality: Lovely, that sounds like its going to be really pretty! When are you sending out your invitations? Itd be interesting to see how far in advance you’re sending yours and whether different countries do different things!

@BookishBelle: I love your centerpieces, where did you get them??

@Jellybones: I went to a November 5 wedding in Park City, Utah a couple of years ago. It snowed a little the morning of the wedding, but overall it just felt like a fall wedding (brown and orange were their colors). The ceremony was at their church and the reception was at a nearby hotel. I think as long as you’re not set on an outdoor wedding, winter weddings feel the same as other weddings, they’re just in the winter.

@Laurengrapes: We sent out our Save the Dates a few weeks ago, so invites will likely be sent at the three month mark. I think we would have sent our invites much earlier if we hadn’t decided to do Save the Dates as well. I wanted to be pretty early because I know people make Christmas and New Year’s plans way in advance!

We are having our wedding on January 11th, 2014 in Chicago. I LOVE the idea of a winter wedding. It’s less expensive to have it during an off season, not only that but there is SO much that you can do with your themes and colors. 🙂

- Wedding: November 2013 - St. Augustine Beach, FL
@Jellybones: I went to one in December and it was beautiful because the church was decorated with greens and poinsettias for Christmas. The best part she said was that she got the decor free since the church was already decorated for Christmas and she matched her colors to the decor (burgundy red and forest green.) I guess that could also be a concern if you want to use colors that are not Christmas colors because most places are going to be decorated in red and green for Christmas. You might want to consider moving it to mid-January if you want to avoid dealing with the red and green decor everywhere.

I’ve never been to a winter wedding BUT we do go looking at venues during the holiday time and the decor inside the venues around that time of year are gorgeous! We were originally going to go with a winter wedding since it would be less expensive however when we realized having a June wedding wouldn’t be that much more we decided to shift gears. Good luck!
