I live in the Midwest and I just need to say: I am so sick of winter!! It’s April 18th, and today we had sleet for a few hours, making all walkways and roads slushy messes, and then it continued to snow for several hours afterward.
I am a person who loves warm weather and sunshine, so the dreary snow days just get me down. Not to mention the weather was so bad this past weekend (20 inches fell back in my hometown) that my husband had to take off work Monday since it was too dangerous to drive!
Just dreaming of the day I graduate and have the freedom to move wherever I want – certainly to a place that doesn’t have seven different winters! 😆

jayquellen : I’m from the midwest, lived in CA for work for years and it was gorgeous. But I missed the seasons.
And now I live in NE/midwest and…. where are the seasons. We are going from winter, to deep winter, to daffadils, to deep winter to hot to deep winter. No spring.
It was snowing and horrid here, ice, sleet, generally awful, today it warmed up to 50. A few days ago it was 78 and then 26.
I am so over this crap, and I love cold air. This is not cold air, it is hell.

BalletParker : Agreed! I can handle winter, but the bipolar nature keeps getting my hopes up for spring then crushing them with cold snaps. It’s really sad to see the robins and other songbirds sitting on snowy branches. 🙁

Souzie : Exactly! February is fine, March I just expect, but April is where I draw the line! April is not allowed to pose as January, despite the fact our January was actually very mild, and had less snowfall than April has this year.

It’s. The. Worst.
My library is still closed from a power outage that started on Sunday!
And I just have to say, cold/wind is one thing, some April showers are part of the deal, but these relentless, ugly, grey skies against the soggy, grey/brown earth and leafless trees is becoming too much to bear. It’s every day. No change.
I’m in disbelief at this point. Which just goes along with everything else.

I would trade the all-year-round warm state I live in, for a most-part-of-the-year winter place in a heartbeat :c I HATE warm weather and very sunny days.

Girl yes, I did NOT need a Friday-Sunday nonstop snowstorm. And on top of that it’s only hit 50 twice since “spring” started, mostly been highs in the 30s only. I feel like I’ve been stuck in prison for 6 months! Add to that the fact that most of winter where I am was below zero. Not just below 32 (freezing) but below zero. You can’t even go outside except to and from your car. This weekend they claim it’ll actually be decent, I saw a 60 on the forecast, and I think the whole town is going to be outside soaking it up. It doesn’t feel like April whatsoever, it’s like some weird twilight zone thing. It’s depressing. And makes me crabby. The kids even had a snow day Monday!!!

jayquellen : the robins here have started dying! Their food is all covered with snow and they didn’t have too long in between the last snow melting and now this. There are a lot of posts going around fb about clearing a place in the yard and what to feed them. It’s so sad! We have mourning doves with a nest with two eggs in our covered patio and idk if they’re finding food or not as they’re also ground feeders.

moonandstarsxx : *cries* I can only dream of it being that warm soon! Actually, the forecast does say it’s supposed to hit 50° in a few days, but I’ve learned not to trust the forecast. Even if it does hit 50, there’s still a good chance it’ll snow again next week.
funnyfox : Okay let’s trade! Haha. But seriously, this is my backyard this morning. For nearing the end of April, this is NOT okay!!

This! This is supposedly the second coldest April on record. Ugh.
