For a full recovery months.  I was in the hospital for 24 hours and I was experiencing serious issues directly due to the surgery for well past a week after.

    You’ll be good..everyone is different:

    • My sister was out dancing and eating fettucini alfredo that night
    • ME: I puked 10 times the first day, from the anesthesia. I don’t remember any pain (had 4 removed at same time, was knocked out/surgery), bc I was puking (ended up needing a suppository). By the 2nd day, I was feeling better, could eat, 3rd day fine.

That was also 15 years ago, I had a minor surgey 2 years ago and was afraid of puking but was fine, anesthesia has changed

It took me a month to fully recover. I had all four impacted and all four removed surgically. There was an infection on one side from the sutures they placed and they had to reopen one side, scrap it, and start the healing process over. It was a mess…and the dentist I saw (although highly recommended) ended up being a terror.

When I met with him…he had a large ego and talked highly of his practices in removing wisdom teeth. One thing he boasted about was how he used regular stitches which would heal better and leave less damage over dissolving stitches that other dentists used. There were a ton of problems I had with him as a dentist..however, to keep it short, I took very good care of my mouth while healing. I had no signs of infection or food stuck at all. Went in for the suture removal and he was very aggressive in removing them…also had issues with the tools he was using (even as I was walking out, my mouth swelled three times the size). Removing the stitches caused a full blown infection somehow on one side of my mouth. They couldn’t explain why since there was no food lodged anywhere. However, they did mention I was healing very fast…to the point where my gum was almost healing over the stitches.

So, all I can recommend to people is to make sure you have a dentist you trust and be wary of them choosing actual stitches (requiring a followup to remove) over dissolvable.
