So, tomorrow I’m off to the Future Mother-In-Law and Future Father-In-Law for dinner, the first that we will have seen them since we got engaged last week.
The reason I need luck, is that FI’s dad … is well, a little opininated and sometimes lacks tack. He thinks that Fiance is too young (25 turning 26) to be getting married (FFIL was 28 when he got married), and though he is happy for us (so he says), he has reservations. Future Father-In-Law is also the type of person, whose first reaction to anything is negative.
I’m afraid that tomorrow is going to turn into a hot seat of questions, that I don’t really want to deal with right now … I want to bask in engagement bliss for a while longer.
Also, FIs family is better situated financially than my family, so we are also hoping that FIs parents will offer to help pay for the reception (we can pay for it ourselves, it just wouldn’t be anything super fancy). But they may have a heart attack when they are informed that we already have a date (September 18, 2010) and have already booked the church. This was done before we were officially engaged, because we knew that was when we wanted to get married, and we (well I) didn’t want to lose the church, which would have happened if we had waited until the ring was ready.
I just want them to celebrate with us tomorrow, we can tackle the finer details on things later on … just not tomorrow.

On the too young thing… don’t worry about it. Father-In-Law felt the same way, but he was still very happy for DH and me.
On the date… what will you do if that date doesn’t work for them?

((HUGS)) I hope that everything works out and remember that the wedding is about your families joining but more importantly it is about you become your fiance’s wife. good luck!!

There shouldn’t be a reason why the date doesn’t work … but I guess we’ll cross that bridge if it comes up … but I doubt it will. Its the middle of September.

Don’t worry! They are very happy for you. Sometimes families can come across as if their opinions matter most, and even if you feel like they are not happy/excited for you…they are deep down. Congratulations on your engagement and have FUN celebrating with your family! 🙂
