Finding a venue that meets our requirements and is within our tiny budget of $1,900 (max) has been so hard for us. We’ve looked at two venues that online seemed like dreams come true, but the hardest lesson we’ve learned with looking at venues is you always have to ask for a bottom line in pricing because it is not always as it seems. I’ve learned a personal lesson about standing my ground and not settling. I would write my questions out for the venues and then be swept up in the lights and glitter of the place and tell myself “I shouldn’t ask this venue my questions their too nice!”
Needless to say venue shopping has been a life lesson for us both. It has taught my fiance’ not to jump the gun and like everything he sees just because the representative makes it sound so awesome.
We’ve lined up our last two venues, if these venues some how fall through for one reason or another we’ll be looking at a church wedding and that is not ideal for us because the only church we found with reasonable prices is my fiance’s home church (family member discount prices) but it is a very small church, so no room for dancing (and no we cannot rent out a hall for the reception – nothing close enough.) all the church can provide are chairs, a little ceremony chapel with a large kitchen for the reception. xD!
For us a lot is riding on these last two venues. We have one venue that I cautiously love, I don’t want to get too excited in case random fees pop up, but online it seems like a great place, and talking with the coordinator has made me confident in my choice for this place. I love this place because it is not far from my fiance’s Native American tribe, where he was born, and where he was adopted from too. Both of his families – biological and adopted both have deep roots in this city and has the garden theme I’d love to run with for our wedding! They have a 100 year old garden you can get married in. *_*
Our second venue choice is a museum. This is the cheapest venue so far, and has an urban modern feel to it, so I was thinking of bold fonts, and using my color scheme for this place.
Our first appointment is this coming Tuesday, and then our last appointment is November 29th. Hopefully by that time we’ve signed a contract! Wish us luck!
