- Wedding: September 2012
Sooooo I worked my tail off planning this weddding… I scrimped and saved and searched for deals and couponed and REFUSED to pay retail price for anything involving the wedding including my dress, shoes, bridesmaid dresses, suits, the venue, our photography, videography, decor, flowers, our RINGS – seriously, EVERYTHING!
I really only bought things for the wedding… I hadn’t purchased much beyond target 70% off clearance items for my “everyday” self since the engagement in Aug 2011.
So once we were all booked and final payments had all been made and everything but the honeymoon was booked… I had a pretty comfortable dollar amount left over (his parents were MORE than generous with their contribution – unexpected to say the least!) and I felt pretty dang pleased with myself, so what did I do one day when we were looking for ties for the ushers?
I bought myself a BAG! A Gorgeous Gold (one of our wedding colors!) Kate Spade flicker handbag that I had seen online (when looking for other KS wedding stuff) but was too frugal to buy at the time.
It saw me from across the store & it was love at first sight all over again…. And what did I find when I looked at the tag, It was originally $345 and was marked down to $175!
I was with Fiance at the time so I told him I’m in love and I feel like I deserve it and he AGREED that I did so I bought it! A splurge for myself 2 days before the wedding! …and BOY was I HAPPY!
Here’s me and my beauty on the wedding day:
I continue to LOVE my bag and think of the wedding fondly everytime I see it.
I also get lots of fun compliments on it and I kinda love gushing saying things like “ohh thank you! It was my wedding gift to myself!”
I honestly would normally feel kinda guilty but I firstly, didn’t pay retail (once again), AND I really felt like with the year of planning I’d been through and all the money I’d saved, I DESERVED IT! hehe Plus it was really fuctional for the day-of!
Did anyone else “gift” or “treat” themselves for the wedding day?
C’mon, I know I can’t be alone here!
Lets hear about your treat for the big day!
