Ok from the top I had a minor pregnancy scare like a month ago – but that was all fine – I wasn’t pregnant. (to avoid confusion)
So 2 months ago I signed up for a drugs trial to raise funds for the wedding – and then a few days ago I had to go to the company’s office’s and give them a urine sample so that they could test weather I was healthy before I got to test the drugs.
Today I got a phone call from the company informing me that my pregnancy made me “unsuitable” for their tests – so by the power of deduction (my being on the pill) I’m 1 week pregnant!!
Which is pretty major – I can’t tell anyone – it’s too early! – and My Fiance doesn’t know yet – it’s 46 days until my wedding so I’m not worried about my dress not fitting or anything – but I’m really freaked out – I was soooooooo not prepared for this! I’m thrilled of course – so so so so exited.
Just need to tell people – but relative strangers – 😀

Wow I’m glad that you are excited even if you are surprised!

Congratulations! You’ll have a great story to tell later on 🙂

Oooh, did you/are you going to take your own test to make sure they didn’t make a mistake? If you really are pregnant, Congratulations!!!

You could actually be more pregnant than you think you are – I was on the pill taking it perfectly, and got pregnant. I bled like a normal period the first month (implantation bleeding). I was actually 6 weeks when I found out, since I figured there could be no way that I actually was. I’d visit your doctor just to make sure. Either way, congrats!

haha – yeah I took a home one (in fact I took 3) and hid them in my knicker draw so my Fiance doesn’t find them – how creepy am I – I kind of want to wait a week or 2 so I feel properly pregnant before I tell him!

Congratulations! What a surprise, though; these things terrify me–glad you are more flexible than I 😉

yeah – I did wonder but I figured that I was either 1 month pregnant or 1 week pregnant – and 1 week is more likely – but once my Fiance knows then I’ll see the doctor!!

what about the wedding?? – my wedding dress is £89 off the peg – and with 1 month to go I’m unlikely to grow massively!!

Congratulations! From my understanding, they count your pregnancy from the start of your last cycle, before conception actually occurs. So you won’t actually get a positive test until at least 4 weeks pregnant or so. Definitely make a doctor’s appointment to get everything checked.

well I’m a nurse – so I have access to “special” pregnancy tests for early tests – and I assume that the drugs company have a similar things!!

If you want to figure out when you are due, take the first DAY of your last period and add 7…so if you started your period on the 14 add 7 to get 21. Then take the month that you also started your last period in and subtract that by 3. So if it was April then subtract april by 3 months which would be january…so you would be due January 21 2011.

I actually found out a week ago Im pregnant too, our wedding isnt for another year or so….and we arent moving it up or anything. EK is right, you are so many weeks pregnant by your last period. They count the pregnacy by that date and the fetus date (which is 2 weeks shorter).
I think everything will work out, no worries 🙂 I would tell your fiance though, its important he will be with you during the nausea, constant urination, and will understand when you fall asleep at the drop of a hat.
Start taking a prenatal vitamin too!
Also, the miscarriage % was shocking to me when I found out…the DR bascially told me its around 50% in the first 2 weeks, 25%ish til 8 weeks and then it drops to 5%. One in Five pregnancies miscarry in the first trimester…shocking numbers!!
